Bryant T. Armstead

Bryant Armstead, a proud Navy veteran from Flint, Michigan, served from 1991 to 2006, beginning his career aboard the USS Saratoga before becoming a Cryptologic Technician. His commitment to service extended beyond the military through volunteer work with youth programs, orphanages, Special Olympics, and more—bringing hope and encouragement to others. After 15 years without a computer, Bryant is eager to reconnect with the digital world. He plans to use a computer to learn new languages, play games with his grandchildren, stay informed, conduct research, and help his family launch an online boutique. Most importantly, it would help him stay engaged despite physical limitations. He’s deeply thankful for Callsign Muffin’s support of veterans and the opportunity to stay connected and empowered.

"I served in the United States military and now spend my days supporting fellow veterans, raising my family, and tending to a small farm. I’m passionate about building strong communities, healing, and creating safe spaces where veterans, especially women, can feel seen and supported. As a mom, a farmer, and a veteran, I wear many hats, and each one keeps me grounded and connected to a life of service and purpose. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and honored to be chosen."

Collaboration with Wish for Our Heroes

Bernie Teich

Callsign Muffin has partnered with Wish for Our Heroes to equip this deserving veteran with the necessary computer to re-enter the workforce and stay connected with loved ones.

20241011_142224000_iOS.jpg

I joined the Marines in 1996 and got out in 2000.  I then re-enlisted in the Army after 9-11 to join those protecting our country.  I deployed to Baghdad Iraq and spent 15 months doing raids and route clearance. I received one purple heart on that deployment and was also hit by an RPG resulting in shrapnel to the face and briefly being knocked unconscious.  I was able to return on my second deployment as a squad leader, and a Bradley fighting vehicle commander with 1-5 infantry, we provided security for route clearance. On 02-28-2007 I was hit by a buried IED. Unfortunately, I was injured where I could not return and flown back to BAMC where I went through three years of intense physical therapy to learn how to walk again. I lost my right leg below the knee, and my left leg was destroyed. I suffer from PTSD, and TBI.  Having access to a computer would greatly enhance my ability to find the right position and get back into the workforce.

Robert A Trevino

"My name is Robert “Alex” Trevino, I am 31 years old and was born in Corpus Christi, TX. I joined the Army in 2014 and served in the 1st Cavalry Division in Fort Hood, TX as a 91B (light wheeled vehicle mechanic). During my time in service I visited many places including Camp Casey, South Korea. After my Rotation to Korea, I decided to reenlist with hopes of furthering my military career. Shortly after I reenlisted, I was in a motor vehicle accident which resulted in a T-9 spinal cord injury and the complete loss of functionality in my legs. I am currently undergoing physical therapy and continuing to battle my way through this injury. I plan to use this computer to gain a better aspect and understanding of how a prosthetic limb can be manipulated and how it can overall improve the quality of life for the user. Thank you. "

Nonprofit "In need" Donation 2024

San Antonio Coalition for Veterans and Families

SACVF provides support by connecting Veterans and their family with community resources to improve their lives. They are the ‘emergency response’ nonprofit acting as the bridge or safety net between assisting the Veteran in need\crisis and supporting that Veteran until they’re able to qualify for the Services provided by other nonprofits and government agencies.

Tony and SACVF needed a computer for their new office.  This will allow Tony to be able to actually work from the office location and not have to constantly run home to use his home computer.

I am from Florida where my parents worked in the fields as I grew up. In 2008 I moved with my wife to NC where it was hard to hold a job due to the recession at that time. So, I joined the military. I was a combat medic. First station was Camp Hovey in South Korea, left there to JBLM and right when I got there deployed to Afghanistan for 12 months. Since being back home I still suffer with social anxiety and PTSD, which is why I started “Strength over Solitude”.
